1) Print a USA Weightlifting Coaching Course Sanction Form .
2) Determine which kind of course you want to host:
A) Club Coach - for those who will be coaching competing weightlifters
B) OR Sports Performance - for those who are strength and conditioning coaches, high school/college coaches working with athletes in other sports besides weightlifting (i.e. football, track & field, etc), or health and fitness instructors who are working with private clients, incorporating weightlifting into their fitness routines.
3) Complete the form and send it to us at least 2 months before the date you have chosen to host the course.
4) The date(s) you choose to host the course cannot be in conflict with any of our National Events, because many of our instructors coach at the National level and won't be available to teach a coaching course. Please check our Meet Calendar for any date conflicts.
5) Make sure that your facility has a lecture/classroom area and at least 1 (preferably 2) weightlifting platforms. All course participants will have to physically demonstrate the lifts, to show they know the form and technique.
6) Once the course is approved, we need you to email the following information to usaw@usaweightlifting.org . We will link the information to the course listing, on our website:
A) Directions to your facility
B) A list of local hotels and their contact information.
The following will be handled by USA Weightlifting:
1) We will find an instructor for the course. If none of our instructors can teach the course on the date you request, we will contact you to ask if the date can be changed. Therefore, it might be a good idea to have an alternate date ready, just in case.
2) We will handle all registrations, payments and mailing out of materials (coaching manual and DVD)
3) After the course, we will send out all of the membership cards, certificates and shirts to the ones who have passed.
Please keep the following in mind:
1) A course needs at least 15 participants.
2) Host facilities do not receive a discount for their staff to take the course.
3) There is a late fee for anyone who signs up after the deadline, even if that person is an employee or student at the host facility.
